World Bank/International Monetary Fund Spring Protests

The IMF Resistance Collective sent out a call yesterday for direct action participants at the April 16, 2011 World Bank/International Monetary Fund spring meetings in Washington D.C.  For reasons which are incomprehensible to me, both Infoshop.org and the D.C. IMC removed my posting which urged the D.C. organizers to start early to set up an adequate convergence space.  In response to several D.C. anarchist comments on the D.C. IMC which stated that it is unfortunate that in recent years the number of dissenters showing up has been only a fraction of the 20,000 estimated to have been there at A16, 2000, I pointed out that the difference is that at A16 2000 we had the Wilson Center as a convergence space.  That accomodated speakers and musicians on the stage, a food line set up so that Catholic Worker and Food Not Bombs could provide meals, and floor space for taking rest.  It is obvious why climate justice activists would like to make a statement this spring at the WB/IMF meetings, and it is also obvious that if the D.C. organizers would like to see once again a huge response, then it is necessary to plan for the requested arrival of at least 20,000 radical frontline participants, mostly from outside of the District of Columbia and many from outside of the U$A.  Again, I cannot understand why this message of mine is being removed from Infoshop.org and the D.C. IMC; if Climate IMC believes that I have become somehow out of touch philosophically after 40 years of living on the frontline edge, so expunge it!  Maybe at 61 I need to retire to the Himalayas and contemplate my navel.  Craig Louis Stehr, 593 62nd Street, Oakland, CA 94609-1246
