Earth Journalism Awards, Copenhagen 2009

in

Are you interested being
supported to cover the 15th Conference of Parties in Copenhagen, and in having
your work showcased at an event that will be co-hosted by the World ‘s leading
authority on climate change, the Chair of the IPCC  and Nobel Prize Winner,
Dr Rajenda Pachauri?

Internews’ Earth Journalism Awards (EJA) will be the
biggest media-related initiative to take place during the negotiations in Copenhagen. It will
recognize outstanding reporting on climate change and provide journalists with
an incentive to produce more and better stories in this crucial period leading
up to the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen December 7-18 2009. The EJA winners will be invited to attend and
cover the negotiations and collect their award at a high profile ceremony on
December 14th.

The Climate
Change Negotiations Awards
will be given out
to the best story focusing on the diplomacy of climate change. Coverage of
international treaty negotiations under the UN Framework Convention on Climate
Change (UNFCCC) that will culminate in the UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen (December 7-18 2009) are
the focus of this award.

Internews has always recognised the powerful
role the media plays in influencing policy. In the past months a dedicated team
have been working on the Earth Journalism Awards to ensure that
journalists - both professional and citizen - from all corners of the
globe, are covering the aspects of climate change that could affect them
and their communities.

By generating coverage during the run-up to the conference these
stories will inform the public of the current attempts to prepare for the
COP15, what the difficulties are and the issues that may arise.

Alternatively, perhaps you could reccomend any journalists (citizen or
professional), or bloggers you know who have recently written on the Climate
Change Negotiations?

In return we would be very pleased to host your logo as
a communication partner on our website.
