AUST: People's Occupation of the World's Biggest Coal Port

*What and where:* A colourful flotilla to occupy and disrupt the world's largest coal exporting port - Newcastle Harbour. Canoes, kayaks, surfboards, surf-skis, tinnies, rafts, floating banners, flags and people paddling together against Australia's massive contribution to climate chaos through coal exports.

*When:* World Environment Day, Monday 5^th June.

*Why:*

* Because Newcastle port exports 80 million tonnes of coal per annum, (240 million tonnes of CO_2 )

* Because industry and government are planning an increase in the port's export capacity of up to 70% by 2010. This is a 50 million tonne per year expansion of Hunter coal exports (over the next 5 years) compared to Australia's total consumption of 67 million tonnes.

* Because the Federal Government has committed more money ver the next 5 years to coal exporting infrastructure upgrades in the Hunter ($270 million) then to renewable energy nationally ($250 000- ¼ of the much publicised $100mill pledged at AP6 in January to address climate change).

* Because part of the planned export expansion includes a new coal loader and devastating dredging of the harbour.

* Because the export expansion will inevitably result in the approval of many proposed coal mines in NSW including Centennial Coal's proposed open-cut coal mine at the iconic and bio-diverse Anvil Hill site.

* Because our export credit agencies have foisted coal power onto new and expanded export costomers (e.g. China, Thailand), while they still have the opportunity to invest in sustainable energy industries.

* Because global greenhouse emissions need be cut swiftly and dramatically to avoid the most catastrophic effects of climate chaos.

* Because it's about multi-national corporations colluding with government at greatest expense to the world's poor and the planet's biodiversity.

*Logistics: *Please RSVP Rising Tide Newcastle on: 0437 275 119.

Discussion between all participants will need to occur before the action so the RSVP is important.

*Time:* Mid-morning, exact time to be confirmed closer to the day.

*Kayak training days:* will be held for inexperienced kayakers going out in kayaks. Get in touch.

*Prop making workshops:* in Newcastle, get in touch. You're most welcome to BYP props too.

*Vessels: *We still need more vessels so ask around if you could get
them to Newcastle on or before the day! Lifejackets too, if you've got them.

*Billeting: *will be available in friendly homes around Newcastle.

*Come join the occupation! *

More Polls?

If I was in a 'minority' there would NOT be such an effort of belittle myself or produce 'poll nonsense' as seems to be the case, especially 'internet polls' which any VALID 'Polling' process will NOT use.
The 'classic' seems to be the quote "3/4 of the public would support..." with a link to an 'UK Independent' 'article'.
Then you have "Many adults in 30 countries expressed concern...' being quite remarkable!

Realise that 'climate change' is constant, the warming seen is simply the end play OF a natural warming process began ~15000 years ago. Also, the 'greenhouse effect' is not possible with the materials present; in the situation they are in, the entire production of a 'link' to all this and a 'greenhouse effect' being INFACT a CLASSIC "false positive".

How many of these 'opinions' can produce a practical PROCESS to support their opinion? NONE and that is the real issue. This is NOT a 'marketing process', there is NOT room for 'opinion' when it is UNSUPPORTED by even the materials involved, so please do TRY NOW to produce such a process NOW please 'whoever', or cease attempting to play POLITICS when SCIENCE is needed.

To reprise:-
Recently (& locally) some began 'selling' concern over 'desalination' by mention of '70% are opposed'. Yet no one I have ever spoken to was ever asked, so perhaps the 'question' was made within the office of those making such a claim.
Not really indicating the PUBLIC view of the 'public' however, seems the same here, again.
Common knowledge is that climate change is ever happening but is there REAL concern over this however? Much less than there is of concern for real POLLUTION. Such is far more relevant to those who suffer from (with increasing incidence) asthma and other respiratory issues.

Still the 'opinioning game' continues oblivious to the realities, which is the ever increasing SPRAWL of Humanity.
For years I have been warning of the threat to Amazonia, of how the emerging NEW population trends WILL see these areas being NEXT on the rematerialing list.
Well it is NOW happening, and still some few ARE attempting to censoring (i.e. control content) of discussion as they cannot 'sell' their opinions in the face of REAL scrutiny.
I see a Nun in Amazonia is now needing SECURITY as her life is threatened for attempting to speak out about issues facing the local people AND the forest.

What do we see here in this 'site'? A few STILL producing harassment of myself AND total ignorance of these REAL issues in favor of 'greenhouse platforming' and myopic 'energy production policies'.

Tell me when actual CONCERN for the ENVIRONMENT will begin within 'discussions' on this site please?

Victorians concern about climate change heightened: new survey
Friday 12 April 2002: There has been a marked increase in public concern about climate change, with 88% of Victorians believing that climate change is mostly the result of human actions, according to a new social research report.

According to a recent Stanford University poll, the American public is ready: 85 per cent of respondents agreed that human-induced climate change is occurring, and 65 per cent believed the government should do more to stop it. Another poll by the Pew Research Center found that 82 per cent of Americans support increased federal research on solar and wind energy

there are plenty more out there.

What a nonsensicle anti social 'exercise'.

CO2 is NOT capable of producing 'climate-change' within ANY valid science.

It is that easy to understand if one would move PAST the 'climate rhetoric' and look directly at the properties of the materials being involved. There is not a 'valid place' for 'opinion' to remake the materials; the materials do not heed 'opinion'. AS such 'opinion' regarding a 'greenhouse process' is NOT 'validation', there is NOT a 'greenhouse process' (as outlined by the 'theory') made by the materials it would involve, especially in the situation these materials are presented in.

What is ALSO being noted is a lot of 'agitation' stirred up by a FEW from Victoria (Australia) involving many issues NOT involved in Victoria (Australia), and as FOE (especially) is ENTIRELY uncommunicative over its actions, I say here that the PUBLIC are NOT supportive of such actions. I would imagine those residing in Newcastle (NSW) are tired of pretentious 'enviro-actioners' who arrive 'claiming a right' to these near irrational 'belief based actions'.
It is simply that FOE, Greenpeace and many other 'groups' are only interested in DICTATING, not LISTENING.
