The "imc-alternatives" working group invites you to join us in the
formation of a global "Alternatives IMC!" The "Alternatives IMC" will be a
"next generation" Indymedia website that will both gather content about all
the great things people are doing to create a better world [pioneering
alternative social structures, economics, education, energy, etc.] and to
provide a place for people organizing these projects working on these
projects to connect with each other to do practical, world-changing

You are INVITED to participate in the Alternatives Indymedia!!

Activists striving for fundamental change have achieved marked success in
recent years, combining massive street demonstrations against War, poverty
and unaccountable global institutions with long-term community organizing
and innovative internet tools to create public discussion around the many
problems facing our world. Independent media sources like Indymedia, and to
some extent the mainstream media, have covered this rising tide of
discontent, providing substantial analysis of most everything that's
"wrong" with the current governmental, social and economic systems.

At the same time, though with much less fanfare, many people and
organizations are working to develop systems that are "right." These are
focused on working solutions, such as participatory decision-making
processes, equitable economies, technologies of cooperation, and many more.
They nurture social structures and a more ecologically sustainable way of
life. If encouraged , valued and supported, these tangible and concrete
experiments could represent a positive shift toward "a new way of being";
the next bold step in the movement to create a better world. But the word
needs to get out about them. Right now we have an imbalance in coverage of
the problems and the critique and not enough dissemination of empowering
information about what is working in the world and how people can get
involved with these kinds of "experiments".

The Alternatives Indymedia (a working title) is a project with multiple goals:

1) To open a vibrant, inspiring, and multilingual Indymedia site through
which users will both share information about current efforts toward
fundamental change and work collaboratively on projects to make change
happen in their communities.

2) To develop the Alternatives Indymedia site to be a "next-generation" IMC
site. This will include offering both traditional IMC features (open
publishing newswire, central feature column) as well as collaborative
editing (aka open editing) and wiki work-pages, integrated forums and
project-oriented mailing lists, blogs, RSS feeds, and other advances that
will inspire active participation in the site. To accomplish this, we want
to work with visionary techies and innovative coders (maybe YOU??) to
pioneer new versions of code (perhaps using Drupal, perhaps using Plone),
that will help transform Indymedia sites from relics of a bygone era when
open publishing itself was considered revolutionary -- way back in 2000! --
into elegant, powerful, INSPIRING sites that empower a new generation of
activists to work together to make change.

We intend this site to become an indispensable resource for those
interested in the basic fundamentals of fundamental change - the
who/what/where/when/why of what people are doing to better the world -- as
well as a living laboratory for those who want to make change happen NOW.

The Alternatives IMC Working Group invites you to join us in realizing this
vision. We are looking for (1) techies who are interested in developing the
next generation of IMC sites, (2) organizers who share our desire to
harness the power of Indymedia to advance social change, and (3) media
makers who love covering the alternatives, experiments and solutions that
are happening across the globe!

Activistas que se esfuerzan por conseguir un
cambio fundamental han conseguido éxitos
remarcables en los últimos años, combinando
manifestaciones masivas contra la guerra, la
pobreza y una incontable cantidad de
instituciones globales mediante herramientas en
la red innovadoras de organización a largo plazo
con las que se han creado discusiones públicas
alrededor de los muchos problemas a los que se
enfrenta nuestro mundo. Fuentes de información
independiente como indymedia, y hasta cierto
punto los medios de masas, han dado cobertura a
este aumento del descontento, proporcionando un
análisis sustancial de la mayor parte de las
cosas que están "mal" en los actuales sistemas
gubernamentales, sociales y económicos.

Al mismo tiempo, aunque con mucho menos
fanfarria, mucha gente y organizaciones están
trabajando para desarrollar sistemas que estén
"bien". Están centrados en soluciones que
funcionen, como procesos participativos de toma
de decisiones, economías equitativas, tecnologías
de cooperación y mucho más. Cultivan estructuras
sociales y un modo de vida más sostenible. Si se
anima, apoya y valora, estos proyectos tangibles
y concretos podrían representar un giro positivo
hacia "un nuevo modo de ser"; el próximo audaz
paso del movimiento para crear un mundo mejor.
Pero la noticia debe extenderse. Ahora mismo
tenemos un desequilibrio en la cobertura de los
problemas y la crítica y no hay la suficiente
diseminación de información sobre qué está
funcionando en el mundo y cómo puede la gente
implicarse en este tipo de "experimentos".

El Alternatives Indymedia (titulo provisional) es
un proyecto con múltiples objetivos:

1) Crear un sitio de Indymedia vibrante,
inspirador y multilingüe a través del cual los
usuarios podrán tanto compartir información sobre
los esfuerzos actuales hacia un cambio
fundamental como trabajar en colaboración con
proyectos para hacer que los cambios se produzcan en sus comunidades.

2) Hacer que el sitio web Indymedia Alternatives
sea un sitio IMC/CMI de nueva generación. Esto
hará que se ofrezca tanto las habituales
posibilidades de los IMCs (columna de publicación
abierta, columna central de editoriales) así como
edición colaborativa (conocida como edición
abierta) y páginas de trabajo wiki, foros
integrados y listas de correo orientadas a
proyectos, blogs, RSS, y otros avances que
inspirarán la participación activa en el sitio.
Para conseguir esto, nos gustaría trabajar con
techs visionarios y programadores innovadores
(¿tal vez TU?) para ser pioneros en nuevas
versiones de código (tal vez usando Drupal, tal
vez Plone), que ayudarán a transformar los sitios
de indymedia de relíquias de una era ya pasada
cuando la publicación abierta en sí era

Ces dernières années, les activistes qui aspirent
à un changement fondamental ont obtenu des succès
notables, associant des grandes manifestations de
rue contre la guerre, contre la pauvreté et
contre les institutions mondiales qui ne rendent
de comptes à personne, à une organisation des
communautés dans une perspective de long terme et
à des outils Internet novateurs pour susciter le
débat public sur les nombreux problèmes de notre
monde. Les sources indépendantes comme Indymedia
et, dans une certaine mesure, les médias
traditionnels ont couvert cette vague croissante
de mécontentement et fourni une analyse solide de
presque tout ce qui ne tourne par rond dans les
systèmes gouvernementaux, sociaux et économiques actuels.

Au même moment, loin des projecteurs, de
nombreuses personnes et organisations travaillent
au développement de systèmes qui sont «bons»,
centrés sur des solutions pratiques, comme les
processus participatifs de prise de décision, les
pratiques économiques équitables, les
technologies de coopération, etc. Elles élaborent
des structures sociales et un mode de vie plus
écologique. Encouragées, valorisées et soutenues,
ces expériences tangibles et concrètes pourraient
représenter une mutation positive vers «une
nouvelle façon d'être», la prochaine étape
audacieuse dans le mouvement pour créer un monde
meilleur. Mais il faut qu'on en parle.
Actuellement, nous avons un déséquilibre entre la
couverture des problèmes, la critique, et une
dissémination trop faible d'information
responsabilisante sur ce qui fonctionne bien dans
le monde et sur la manière dont les gens peuvent
s'impliquer dans des «expériences» de ce type.

Le projet Indymedia Alternatives (une
dénomination provisoire) a des objectifs multiples:

1) Ouvrir un site Indymedia vibrant, inspirant et
multilingue par le biais duquel les
utilisateurs/trices échangeront des informations
sur les efforts déployés pour parvenir à un
changement fondamental et collaboreront à des
projets pour provoquer le changement au sein de leurs communautés.

2) Développer le site Indymedia Alternatives pour

génération», notamment via des éléments
traditionnels des sites IMC (fil de publication
libre, colonne centrale de features), mais aussi
par de l'édition collaborative (modification
ouverte), des pages wiki de travail, des forums
intégrés et des listes, blogs, fils RSS consacrés
à des projets spécifiques, ainsi que d'autres
outils qui inciteront à la participation active
au site. Pour y parvenir, nous voulons travailler
avec des techies visionnaires et des codeurs
novateurs (peut-être TOI??) pour créer de
nouvelles versions de code (en utilisant
peut-être Drupal, peut-être Plone) qui
contribueront à transformer les sites Indymedia
de reliques d'un âge révolu où la publication
libre elle-même était révolutionnaire -- en 2000!
-- en des sites élégants, puissants, INSPIRANTS
qui donnent à une nouvelle génération
d'activistes les moyens de travailler ensemble pour réaliser le changement.

Nous voulons que ce site devienne une ressource

Gli attivisti che stanno lottando per un profondo
cambiamento hanno ottenuto, negli ultimi anni,
degli evidenti successi, unendo grandi
manifestazioni contro la guerra e la povertà e
inimmaginabili istituzioni globali e comunità a
lungo termine con innovativi strumenti su
internet per la creazione di discussioni
pubbliche riguardanti i numerosi problemi che
flagellano il mondo. I media indipendenti come
Indymedia, e qualche apparizione sui mainstream,
hanno dato visibilità a questa crescenta marea di
malcontento, fornendo analisi sostanziali di
tutto quello che è "sbagliato" nell'attuale sistema sociale ed economico.

Allo stesso tempo, anche se con molte meno
fanfare, molte persone e organizzazioni stanno
lavorando per sviluppare sistemi che sono
"giusti". Costoro sono concentrati sul proporre

cooperazione, e molto altro. Essi incoraggiano lo

rappresentare un cambio positivo verso "un nuovo
modo di essere"; il prossimo grande passo nel
movimento teso a creare un mondo migliore. Ma
bisogna parlare di queste cose. Attualmente
abbiamo uno squilibrio nella Right now we have an
imbalance nella copertura mediatica dei problemi
e delle analisi, e una insufficiente diffusione
delle informazioni riguardanti le cose che stanno
funzionando nel mondo e come le persone
potrebbero partecipare a questo genere di "esperimenti".

L'Indymedia delle Alternative (un titolo
provvisorio) è un progetto con molti obiettivi:

1) Aprire un sito Indymedia carico di entusiasmo,
creativo e multilinge mediante il quale gli
utenti possano sia condividere informazioni
riguardanti le attuali attività che lavorare

Jahren zu deutlichen Erfolgen geführt. So wurden
massive Straßendemonstrationen gegen Krieg, Armut
sowie unverantwortliche globale Institutionen mit
langfristigen Projekten und innovativen
Internet-Werkzeugen verbunden, um eine öffentlich
Debatte, rund um die vielen Probleme, mit denen
unsere Welt konfrontiert ist, zu erzeugen.
Unabhängige Medienquellen wie z.B. Indymedia –
und zu geringem Ausmaß auch die Mainstream-Medien
– berichteten über die immer größer werdende
Unzufriedenheit. Sie lieferten substantielle
Analysen über fast alles was „falsch“ ist mit dem
derzeitigen Regierungs-, Sozial-, und Wirtschaftssystem.

Gleichzeitig, wenn auch mit weniger Getöse,
arbeiten viele Leute und Organisationen daran,
Systeme zu entwickeln, die “richtig” sind. Diese
fokussieren sich auf Arbeitslösungen, wie z.B.
teilhabenden Entscheidungsfindungs-Prozessen,
gerechte Wirtschaftssysteme, kooperierende
Technologien und viele mehr. Damit fördern sie
soziale Strukturen und eine ökologisch
nachhaltigere Lebensweise. Falls weiterhin
ermutigt, wertgeschätzt und unterstützt, könnten
diese handfesten und konkreten Experimente eine
positive Veränderung in Richtung einer neuen
Lebensweise sein – der nächste mutige Schritt der
Bewegung, um eine bessere Welt aufzubauen. Doch
ihr Handeln muss sich auch herumsprechen. Zur
Zeit haben wir ein Ungleichgewicht bei der
Berichterstattung über Probleme sowie Kritik und
nicht genug Verbreitung von Informationen
darüber, was funktioniert und wie Leute in diese
“Experimente” eingebunden werden können bzw. mit ihnen in Kontakt kommen.

“The Alternatives Indymedia” ist ein Projekt mit mehreren Zielen:

1) Ein lebhafte, inspirierende und multilinguale
Indymedia-Seite zu eröffnen, durch die die Nutzer
in der Lage sein werden, Informationen über

Wiki-Arbeitsseiten, integrierte Foren und
projektorientierte Mailinglisten, Blogs, RSS
feeds sowie anderen Fortschritten, die zur
aktiven Teilnahme an der Seite inspirieren. Um
das zu erreichen wollen wir mit visionären
Technikfreaks und innovativen Programmierern
zusammenarbeiten; und so neuen Codes
(Programmierersprachen (vielleicht Drupal
nutzend, vielleicht Plone nutzend)) den Weg
bahnen. Das wird helfen Indymedia-Seiten von
Relikten vergangener Tage, als offenes
publizieren an sich schon als revolutionär
angesehen wurde, in elegante, kraftvolle,
inspirierende Seiten zu transformieren, die einer
neue Generation von Aktivisten ermöglichen wird,
zusammen am Wandel zu arbeiten.

Wir beabsichtigen, dass diese Seite eine
unverzichtbare Quelle für all jene wird, die an
fundamentalen Veränderungen interessiert sind –
das wer/was/wo/wann/warum von allem was Leute
tun, um die Welt zu verbessern. Ebenso soll es
als lebendes Labor für all jene dienen, die JETZT
Veränderungen herbeiführen wollen.

Die „Alternatives IMC“ Arbeitsgruppe lädt sie
ein, sich bei der Realisierung dieser Vision
nützlich zu machen. Wir suchen (1) Technikfreaks
die daran interessiert sind, die nächste
Generation von IMC Seiten zu entwickeln, (2)
Organsitoren, die unser Verlangen teilen, die
