U.S.: Interfaith Walk for Climate Rescue fronts for corporate privatization of Commons

Categories:

The "Interfaith Walk for Climate Rescue" planned for Massachusetts beginning this weekend does not want anyone involved who might question those sacred cows feeding at the public trough.

Just to let everyone know, while it is true that you don't have to have any religious ties to do the "Interfaith Walk for Climate Rescue", you do have to pledge unquestioning and enthusiastic support for the Cape Wind Project in order to be listed as an Official Endorsing Organization with the so-called "Interfaith Walk for Climate Rescue". While I agree 100% with the alleged goals and the walk itself, the organizers of the walk have their heads up their wind mills, if they think they will decide for the rest of us just what kind of support we are allowed to give to highly dubious proposals like Cape Wind. This kind of Fascist Leadership is a bit much for me. Who do they think they are? God?

The "Interfaith Walk for Climate Rescue" does not want anyone involved who might question those sacred cows feeding at the public trough. While I am in favor of windmills, I don't think we should have to pledge blind support for a project that will use public lands solely for private profit. I might even support such a use of public lands if it were a community-owned cooperative proposing decentralized power production. I have a big problem with this kind of fascist organization, with their "Corporate Only" sponsorship which makes me wonder if this isn't really another front for Exxon-Mobil doing their usual PR thing. I just wanted to let people know that there are some major strings attached to this walk. Enough string to trip me up. When I walk, I won't do it on a leash.

I strongly believe we must be inclusive and not divisive. We all must work together to fight the powers that be. That is why I am sad to say that based on what I know, and how the organizers have treated VFR's Enviro Show, even though we have plugged the walk and had their spokesperson on our show, to plug it, I can not walk with them in good conscience. I guess I lack the appropriate faith in the walk organizers' omnipotence. Since they denied our request to allow the Enviro Show to be an Endorsing Organization, strictly because we would not support their Cape Wind plan, we just can't endorse this "Corporate Walk-On-A-Leash for Climate Rescue".

Like Emerson said- "Resist Much, Obey Little".
