More Arrests on Coal River Valley as Actions Against Mountaintop Removal and Coal Sludge Dams Continue

Update: 17:23-
Nine protesters are still in custody. Two are being held for the action
at the Brushy Fork dam, seven for the line crossing at Pettus. Police
have informed jail support that bail will be set at $2,000 each-
$18,000 needs to be raised in total. Please consider donating to our

11:16-
The two who floated the banner on Brushy Fork toxic lake have been
charged with misdemeanor trespass and littering with bail set at $2,000
each. Eight of the folks on Kayford are in police custody, and a
photojournalist has been released. 

09:50- Two state police on scene at Brushy Fork Impoundment. A sherrif is on-scene at Kayford awaiting arrival of State Police.

07:30-
Six Mountain Justice activists are locked down to equipment on the
Kayford mine site owned by Patriot Mining Company with a banner: "Never
again!" They're joined by two support people and an independent
photojournalist. A second team has deployed a banner on the Brushy Fork
Impoundment that says "West Virginia says no more toxic sludge! The
Picket at Pettus is still scheduled for noon today at Pettus,
W.Va.--the mouth of Marfork Hollow.
